Meet Catherine
COL (ret) Catherine Kimball-Eayrs is a retired Army general pediatrician with over twenty years of experience in clinical medicine, medical education and healthcare leadership. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts and her Army commission and medical degree through the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, MD. Her pediatric residency occurred at the San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium in San Antonio, Texas. Besides actively caring for patients, she served in a variety of administrative and educational role. She was and continues to be active as medical school and pediatric residency faculty.
Her leadership recognition culminated in being hand selected to serve as the first Chief Experience Officer in the Military Health System at Walter Reed National Military Medical System where she built a program from the ground up to intentionally support both patient and staff experience. Her final roles in the Army were as the Commandant for the School of Medicine at USUHS and as the Army General Pediatrics Consultant to the Surgeon General.Awards during her career include a Legion of Merit, a Bronze Star, and many other commendation and achievement medals.She was awarded the GME Mentor of the Year, the Walter Reed Master Clinician Award, the Military Health Systems Senior Army Female Physician Award and the AAP Section on Uniformed Services Outstanding Service Award for contributions to both the AAP and military pediatrics.
